When you move a message from one folder to another in your email client, or delete a message, the process is more complicated that it would initially seem. A copy of the message is placed in the appropriate destination folder, but the original message is not removed immediately. Instead it is flagged as “unpurged”, and hidden from display, until such a time that the folder that contains it is compacted or expunged.
The reason for this behavior is to optimize the move/delete process by not having to reorganize a mailbox every time a message is removed from it. As mailboxes can become very large, and messages can usually be moved around without limitation, this can provide a considerable time-saving. However it also means that when you process a mailbox with Aid4Mail, the mailbox can potentially contain unpurged messages.
As these messages are generally unwanted, they are automatically skipped by the Home and Professional versions of Aid4Mail. The eDiscovery versions offer an option to process unpurged mail, which is usually only required in a forensics context.
You can use the Test E-mail Autoconfiguration in Outlook: Locate the Outlook icon in the notification area, hold the CTRL key, right click the icon, and then click Test E-mail Autoconfiguration. Enter the user's email address, only choose Use Autodiscover. View the result on the Log tab. Select the message that you want to permanently delete. To permanently delete a folder in Outlook, go to the Folders pane and select the folder. Press Shift + Del. Or, go to the Home tab, press and hold Shift, and select Delete. A dialog box opens and warns you that the message will be permanently deleted. Release message: In the flyout pane that appears, choose whether to Report messages to Microsoft for analysis. This is selected by default, and reports the erroneously quarantined message to Microsoft as a false positive. When you're finished, click Release messages. View message header: Choose this link to see the message header text. Click on the “Account Settings” under the “Tools” menu. 2 In the new account setting window, click on the “Email” and make a double click on the email address by which you are not able to send emails.
Please note that Aid4Mail cannot see unpurged messages in Microsoft Outlook (MAPI Profile, PST file, MSG files) because Extended MAPI doesn't provide methods to find them.
